'living well' is achieved.

"The clothes I usually wear were long, but the right sleeve was shortened to make it easier to move. There was always a bedclothes, but the length was one and a half times my height.'

- <The Analects> 10:6

Through the way Confucius eats and wears clothes, we can get a glimpse of the civilized life he pursued.

Not eating anything and not wearing casual clothes, the detailed response of acting and choosing appropriately according to the situation.

Confucius in the East is not the only one who considers delicacy to be the essence of civilization. It was the same in the West that the process of delicately arranging is the hallmark of civilization. In particular, the modern French philosopher Pascal emphasized in <Pangse> that 'delicate mind' is a characteristic of civilization, and argued that the expression of the detailed mind about things and thoughts is possible only through the humanities.

If you think about it, civilization is a world of delicacy and affection. Barbarism, which stands in opposition to civilization, is expressed in harshness and cruelty. Therefore, the 'world rich in customs' that Confucius dreams of is a world that is not rough and delicate, and it is a world that is not harsh and has affectionate feelings.

Such detail and refinement show that he dreamed of a world of sublime design, not just blunt and simple fabrics.

The civilized world that Confucius dreamed of is expressed through the meticulousness and consideration of hospitality, food, and shelter that constitutes our daily life. In other words, it should be possible to discover that the civilization that Confucius dreamed of is based on delicate aesthetics in his well-groomed attire and the sensitivity of his eating habits.

Living well is not about expensive food and fresh air, but about the beauty that is created when you practice subtle aesthetics in your daily life. From being the master of one's life and seeing beauty in the small things around you, 'living well' is achieved.
