Studying is the process of developing the power of discernment.


Only when there is the power of discernment, it is possible to enjoy the object rather than just being overwhelmed by it.


From discomfort to pleasure...


From disorder to order...


You can go from astonishment to beauty.

In this way, if the power of discernment is not connected with enjoyment, the study will only become boring and painful.


At this point, we should not just emphasize study, but clarify the usefulness and purpose of the study.




Studying is to develop the power to enjoy the beauty.


Studying makes you discover patterns in what seems chaotic. It shows a beautiful order in which the pattern repeats regularly.


Studying is reading these patterns and understanding the order.


Whenever I look at the world while studying, I figure out what patterns are there and what the anomalies are. It is a fragrant thing to read beauty, to enjoy the beauty and to express wonder.



If you know the order, you can handle it.


We have invented tools to deal with order and we can use them.


If you know the rules, you can handle them rather than stick to them, and you can create new things through 'handling'.


It can't be different if you don't know. Even if you know how to handle it, you cannot repeat it. So the study is a process of knowing, dealing with, reading, and enjoying, again and admiring the cycle.



According to Foucault, the good life is not about obeying given rules, but about creating beautiful forms. In other words, a good life is only possible when you use your freedom. Here, you will reconsider what the purpose of study or education is.


Studying is what you do to be free.


Education is the process of liberating people.
