Admiration is the starting point of learning, and the purpose of learning is the joy of enjoyment.

Admiration is the starting point of learning, and the purpose of learning is the joy of enjoyment.

When we see great art and nature, we don't just say it's beautiful or cool, but treat it as a 'workpiece'.

When you become the object of admiration beyond a brief mystery, you ask questions.

What and through what process did you create such a wonderful thing?

As such, admiration is the starting point for curiosity. It is only when an encounter with an admirable object precedes, that curiosity arises about the art of turning that object into a work.

The first step in the heart that makes you want to learn something is to marvel at it.

People don't pay attention to objects that don't marvel at them. And even if you pay attention once, if the admiration and fascination are not intense, the attention will not last. Learning does not occur unless it encounters an object that inspires awe strong enough to sustain attention.

What I have never met or thought of, and therefore absolutely unknown, fascinates me. It's annoying but it's beautiful. So people want to understand it. Questions arise.

Why is that beautiful?

How can I explain that beauty?

What makes that beautiful?

Furthermore, what is beauty?

Wanting to know what got me confused, that turns out to be a question.

This is why wonder opens the door to learning.

is to ask questions. In other words, I never ask a question unless there is something that marvels me.

The fact that there is a name and order behind the 'disorder' that surprised me, this leads the aesthetic fascination into the intellectual process. You will want to differentiate through study. To have a name is the result of discernment. Because we can distinguish them, we can give each one a name.

The greatest power of knowledge is discernment. It is the power of knowledge that makes it possible to discern the marvelous but indiscernible. Studying is to nurture this power and enjoy the beauty.

The usefulness of knowledge lies in enjoying the beauty of the world, the universe and history, beyond making a living. A life enjoyed like this is a wonderful life. A life given only once, shouldn't it be lived beautifully?
