Growing up, accepting the desires of the times.

Growing up, accepting the desires of the times.

We have vague fantasies about creative people.

The image of a genius who gets first place in an exam without studying, or throws answers in front of problems that experts can't solve properly. Geniuses who hate to memorize, are not sincere, and come up with countless ideas that are out of control, but whose personality is not that great.

It's not really without such geniuses, but if you look closely at the people who have made a difference in the world, they've spent a lot more time training than we thought, and they emphasized basic knowledge and practice.

Contrary to popular belief, a newcomer with no basics is unlikely to come up with a productive idea.

"Sociality has a huge impact on success, so when a company values sociality, it can develop a lot more of its employees."

-Give and Take, Adam Grant

Looking at the various analyzes of social achievement, there are two main methods. Either you adapt very well to the world, or you go a completely different path from that person. It is difficult to achieve great social achievements if you properly conform or rebel in the middle. If you want to adapt, you have to do it right, and if you want to rebel, you have to do it right too.

Those who adapt to the demands of the times and social desires are mostly influenced by 'system rationalization theory'.

Even if he made the wrong decision, he said it was a time of 'learning' rather than regretting it. Because of this tendency to rationalize, they overcome countless wrong decisions in their lives without much suffering. Self-rationalization is also a useful mechanism for enduring life in that it provides comfort for overcoming the pain of making bad decisions.

I don't know why I should do it when I am soberly judged, but I often find people who follow me because everyone else is doing it. At this moment, we are rationalizing the desires and demands of the times and the existing system. In other words, those who seek and emphasize meaning in society are walking the path of 'conformers' who want to maintain the system or do not want to make any effort to change the system, and endure the complacency of following the system through rationalization.

Where did my desires come from?

It is time to take a closer look at how many of the many desires and goals I pursue are truly mine.

Perhaps 'getting old' is the process of slowly accepting the desires of the times as my desires.
