What will you prepare

We don't know what the job market will look like in 2050. There is a general consensus that machine learning and robots will change work in almost every field. However, there are differences of opinion as to what the nature of the change is and how imminent change is.

Is a terrible cataclysm imminent? Or is such a prediction merely an overreaction of the unfounded opponents of the new technology?

Humans have two types of abilities. physical and cognitive abilities. In the past, machines competed with humans primarily in their physical abilities. On the other hand, humans have a far greater advantage than machines in cognition. As a result, although manual labour in agriculture and industry has been automated, new service jobs have emerged that require cognitive skills unique to humans.

Cognitive skills unique to humans are the ability to learn, analyze, communicate and, above all, understand human emotions. However, AI is now increasingly overtaking humans in these technologies as well. This includes understanding human emotions.

Beyond physical and cognitive abilities, we do not yet know of the third area of activity in which humans will always have a firm dominance.

It's important to know that the AI revolution isn't limited to computers getting faster and smarter. This includes groundbreaking advances in the life sciences and social sciences. As our understanding of the biochemical mechanisms that underlie human emotions, desires, and choices increases, so does the ability of computers to analyze human behaviour and predict decision-making, potentially replacing many tasks.

Research in fields such as neuroscience and behavioural economics over the past few decades has given scientists a better understanding of human decision-making processes than ever before. We also learned that human choices do not come from any mysterious free will, but from billions of neurons calculating probabilities in a very short period of time. What has been shown off as 'human intuition' is actually revealed as "pattern recognition". Humans become experts by recognizing repeating patterns.

This means that AI can outperform humans in tasks that have been considered to require intuition. In particular, AI can outperform humans in tasks that require intuition 'about others'.

If emotions and desires are nothing more than biochemical algorithms, computers are bound to be much better at deciphering these algorithms and getting the job done.

The real threat is not only posed by the rise of information technology. It is amplified by the merging of information technology and biotechnology. If computers use the results of biotechnology, AI can also replace human emotions.

AI has unique abilities that are not human. This creates a qualitative, rather than a degree, difference between AI and human workers. Of the non-human capabilities that AI possesses, two particularly important are connectivity and update ability. All information networks will be constantly upgraded with feedback on the quality of information. The benefits of such connectivity and update ability are so great that, at least in some fields of work, it may not be unreasonable to replace all human workers with computers, even if some individuals are still better than machines individually.

The objection may be that the transition from individual humans to computer networks loses the benefits of individuality. However, an integrated computer system can maximize the benefits of connectivity while also benefiting from individuality. Many alternative algorithms can be run on the same network.

The benefits that human society will enjoy through the extension of a healthy life such as medical care, transportation, and economy seem enormous.

A world that is being automated for a better life for humans...

It cannot be dismissed as something of the distant future. It is a picture of the present era that is already approaching.

What do humans need to protect in the future?

What will I learn and what will I teach my child?
