The first principle of life, a habit.

The first principle of life, a habit.

Habits created are the way we continue to exist.

If the change has passed, the habit is what persists beyond the change that produced it. Moreover, when it is said that a habit is only a habit and, by its very nature, has nothing to do with the change that produces it, it persists even when there is no longer such a change... covered up Thus, a habit is not just a state, but also a tendency and a capacity.

Habit transforms a volitional movement into an instinctive one. However, in the most volitional movement, it is only the external form and extreme of the movement that the will plans and the understanding represents. On the other hand, between movement in space and the exercise of bodily motor abilities, there is an intermediate zone filled with intermediate terms that first resist, and we are only vaguely conscious of that resistance in effort. We learn to control the amount of effort put in and choose our application points according to the goals we are trying to reach. And at the same time, the consciousness of effort disappears.

- <About Habits>, Ravesson

It would not be an exaggeration to say that the first principle that defines our identity is habit.

What has become a habit, what you are consciously working on now, and what you will acquire as a habit later, this is what life is all about.

Sometimes life feels difficult. This happened because the new environment of life and our inner habits do not match. In this discrepancy, we have two choices. One is to change the environment according to the existing habits, and the other is to form new habits according to the environment.

Which one is the right choice?

If the circumstances of your life have deteriorated, it may be better to stick to the habit.

If your living environment has improved, creating a new habit may be a better choice.

You cannot decide in advance which option is right.

What is clear is that it should be something that enriches our lives.
