Being able to do anything, or quitting, is freedom.

Being able to do anything, or quitting, is freedom.

Get your hands off the hanging cliff.

Enlightened people say I had to get my hands off the hanging cliff.

I can't believe it's a story from Buddhism, which emphasizes mercy and love.

Doubts can be easily dispelled.

A 'hanging cliff' is actually just an object of obsession, believing that it will die if it is released even though there is no problem. The 'hanging cliff' is different for each person. It could be youth, health, family, money, home, or children. Or it could be love, it could be friendship, it could be the approval of others.

It is clear that the person who cannot lift his hand from the cliff is not free, he is not the master of his own life. Whatever it is, if it is impossible to live without it, and if it is likely that he will die, he is already a slave to the cliff on which he hangs.

If you let go, you will die, but why should you let go?

For the freedom to pursue new possibilities in life. If you hold on to a stone, you cannot catch a lot of other things you can catch other than the stone. Laying a stone doesn't mean staying empty-handed or not holding anything. It is to gain the freedom to grab anything, including re-grabbing a stone.
