Hamlet

 "Who?"

From the first line, one common word, his heart thumps and sinks.

I've read it several times and just overlooked it,

A single word I thought to announce the start of the play...

From that one word, Shakespeare poses a question to us.

'who are you?'

And the next question... the question... the question...

Not the weak and feeble Hamlet

I met another Hamlet who was thinking, thinking and reflecting.

He refuses to be blind to the truth of the world,

Hamlet thinks, contemplates, reflects, and comes to a decision as he bumps into life with his whole body.

I met Hamlet, a man who was sincere and questioning.

Resisting selfish realism

Among those who surrender to power and desire

A modern man, Hamlet, who chooses desperate solitude and walks into his own destiny.

accept sorrow as sorrow

I found the truth

The life of his execution of revenge like revenge asks me.

Will you choose to live a peaceful life?

Will you choose an uncomfortable existence?
