What am I experiencing now? The cause of affliction, the mind.

What am I experiencing now? The cause of the affliction is the mind.

The cause of defilement is not bad luck, social injustice, or the disgrace of God. Defilements are patterns in which the human mind behaves.

The mind usually reacts with attachment to whatever it experiences, and attachment always leads to dissatisfaction. When the mind experiences something unpleasant, it clings to get rid of it, and when it experiences something pleasant it clings to sustain and multiply the pleasure. Therefore, the heart is always dissatisfied and not at peace. This fact becomes very evident when experiencing unpleasant experiences such as pain.

As long as the pain persists, we become dissatisfied and do whatever we can to avoid it. However, they are never satisfied with the experience of pleasant things, and they fear that the pleasure will disappear or hope that it will increase.

Gautama discovered that there is a way out of this vicious cycle. If the mind can understand things as they are when experiencing pleasant or unpleasant events, there is no suffering.

If you experience sadness but do not harbor an attachment that you want it to go away, you will continue to feel sadness but do not suffer from it. In fact, there can be abundance in sorrow.

If you feel the joy, but it persists and does not obsess over getting bigger, you can continue to enjoy it without losing your peace of mind.

How can I accept everything as it is without attachment?

Train them to focus their attention on the question, “What am I experiencing now?” rather than “What kind of experience do I want to have different from now?”

When the fire of clinging is completely extinguished, clinging changes its state and place of complete satisfaction and serenity, which is Nirvana.

A person who has attained nirvana is freed from all suffering. They experience reality with extreme clarity and are free from illusions and delusions. You will encounter discomfort or pain, but such experiences do not cause any psychological pain. A person without attachment does not suffer.

Defilement arises from attachment. The only way to get rid of defilements is to be completely free from attachments. The only way to be completely free from addiction is to train the mind to experience reality as it is.
