Post-truth, some fake news stays forever.

Post-truth, some fake news stays forever.

We are living in a new era called 'post-truth'.

It is a frightening era surrounded by lies and fiction everywhere.

A glance at history shows that propaganda and disinformation are nothing new. Even the habit of completely denying the nation and creating a fake state has a long history.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Zionists' favorite slogan was a return of the 'landless man (Jews) to the landless people (Palestine)'. The presence of Arabs in the area was ignored for their convenience.

Humans have always lived in an era of post-truth. Homo sapiens is a post-truth species.

Ever since the Stone Age, self-reinforcing myths have served to unite human groups. We are the only mammals capable of cooperating with millions of strangers. This was possible because humans were able to invent a fictional story and spread it everywhere, convincing many people to believe it.

As long as everyone believes in the same fiction, they all obey the same laws, so they can work together effectively.

If 1000 people believe a fabricated story for a month, it's fake news. On the other hand, if a billion people believe for 1000 years, it is a religion. But we shouldn't call it 'fake news.

This is not to deny the effectiveness of religion or the potential for benevolence it harbors.

For better or worse, fiction is one of the most effective tools of mankind. Religious beliefs brought people together and drew large-scale cooperation, bringing humanity to the present day. But if the Bible agrees with the claim that it is a true God, then what about other devoutly religious people who have believed in their fiction for thousands of years?

"A lie told once is just a lie, a lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth."

The truth has never been high on the Homo sapiens agenda. Many people think that if a religion or ideology misrepresents reality, sooner or later its adherents will be forced to notice it. In that case, you will have no choice but to fall behind competitors that more accurately reflect reality. However, this assumption is also a comfortable myth. In reality, cooperation between people depends on maintaining a subtle balance between truth and fiction.

The effective organization of a group of people is impossible without relying on some myth.

In some cases, it may be argued that it is possible to effectively organize people through common agreement rather than fiction or myth. Indeed, in the realm of economics, money, and cooperation bind people together far more effectively than any god or scripture.

Even though everyone knows that money and cooperation are nothing more than agreements between people.

A true believer in the Bible says, 'I believe it to be a sacred book.' A person who believes in dollars, on the other hand, would only say, 'I believe other people believe that dollars are worthwhile.' Despite the obvious fact that the dollar is nothing more than a human creation, people around the world respect the dollar.

When a man sees a dollar, he forgets that it is only a human contract. In reality, looking at a piece of green paper, one sees the value inherent in it or sees itself as something possessed. Rarely do people remind themselves: 'It's just a piece of paper that isn't worthwhile, but I can use it because other people see it as valuable.'

A belief that humans have accumulated over a long period. Thus, it is practically impossible to draw a line between 'knowing that something is only a human convention' and 'believing that something is intrinsically valuable. In many cases, people become vague about this distinction or forget about it altogether.

This blurring of the boundary between fiction and reality can serve several purposes. Uses vary from the need for 'fun' to the dimension of 'survival'.

When encountering games, novels, sports, etc., you must fully accept the rules and forget that the rules are just human agreements.

Humans have this amazing ability to know and not know at the same time.

If you think seriously about something, you know, but most of the time you don't know because you don't think about it.

How often do we claim the ultimate truth?

Authentic facts and pain are at the root of all fake news.

Human suffering is often triggered by fictional beliefs, but suffering itself is real.

So instead of taking fake news for granted, we have to admit that it's a much more difficult problem to solve than we think and struggle a lot harder to separate fiction from reality.

It is the responsibility of all of us to dedicate time and effort to uncovering bias and validating information.

Silence is not neutral. It is to favor the status quo.
