The highest filial piety, a vertical and uniform culture that is hierarchical, and the value of 'living respectfully' is the success of life. Also, the fear of falling behind others, being different from others, and jumping out.


The chronic tension and fatigue caused by this collectivist culture do not bring us happiness despite economic growth.


Although it is a cutting-edge IT powerhouse and a society that has successfully achieved political and institutional democratization, people who speak frankly in a place that is experiencing cultural retardation that has not yet fully embodied even modern liberalism spiritually create discord with the times.

Obsession with a comparison with others leads to infinite competition. I feel relieved only when I become a member of a well-known group, but after that, I suffer from the fear of being eliminated. In the end, group dependence due to lack of self-esteem is easily combined with the irresponsible egoism behind the group. As an individual, he is withdrawn but wearing an anonymous mask becomes impudent, and as a group he becomes cruel.

Rational individualism coexists with consideration for the community and social solidarity. To have your own freedom respected, you must also respect the freedom of others. Tolerance – tolerance for differences, protection of minorities, and respect for diversity – is the power that enables more individuals to be happy and not daunted.
