caring for others
caring for others
When Confucius entered the mausoleum, he asked them all. someone said
"Who said that Chu-in's son knew the etiquette? He went into the mausoleum and asked every detail."
Confucius heard this and said,
“It is an example to do this.”
Ethics are valuable only when the subject's affection for others and consideration, and the subject's autonomous decision are presupposed.
If the system itself makes it impossible for us to act autonomously to be considerate of others, no matter how good the purpose, such as a system that takes care of the socially disadvantaged, cannot be ethical.
Zigong asked.
“Do you have a single word that you can put into practice for the rest of your life?”
said the Confucius.
"That's 'Seo'. Don't do to others what you don't want."
Confucius, who knows the etiquette of worship more than anyone, asks the caretaker of the mausoleum.
He was thinking about what a worship service manager would most likely do. That is, someone is better at doing what they are supposed to do than themselves.
If there is no delicate consideration for others, etiquette is useless.
For proper etiquette, delicate sensibility and affection to understand each other's feelings beyond blind etiquette and system are required.
