Breakaway from essentialist thinking and understand the contextual temperament of each situation.

Nowadays, tests that evaluate according to a series of characteristics are popular. The reason is that it satisfies the deep-seated conviction that knowing those qualities that define the nature of a person's personality can penetrate that person's 'real identity.

Human nature is so deeply cryptic that we tend to believe that personality definitions are bound to come in handy in our environment and work. This belief is called essentialist thinking.

Essentialist thinking is both a result and a cause of typification.

One area that is heavily bound by essentialist thinking—capabilities, talents, and potential—is determined by our attitudes. We consider these qualities to be essential.

However, behaviour is not determined by characteristics or circumstances but is expressed through independent interactions between the two. It is easy to get lost by trying to understand someone by taking the way of talking about average tendencies or essential temperaments. Rather, it requires a new way of thinking that focuses on the behavioural characteristics of the person in their context.

As an alternative to essentialist thinking, understanding the temperament for each situation and context suggested by Shoda will be of great help in understanding others in reality.

People can change from situation to situation and context to context.

Anyone can be an extrovert, and everyone can be shy. There are only cases where each context is different.

We do not fully understand the various contexts of people's lives. Determine who they are based on limited information.

If you break away from essentialist thinking and become aware of the temperament of each situation and context related to the context, if you keep in mind that the context of the moment is not everything, you can have a deeper understanding and respect for yourself and others. Life becomes richer.
